Introduction
The BS (Accounting & Finance) is a highly specialised degree, preparing the graduate as having expertise in Accountancy and Finance. The students will acquire the knowledge and technical skills needed to analyze accounting/finance and business problems, and they will understand how best to communicate and use financial information to support business decisions. The degree offers specialization in Accounting and/or Finance. With the management of financial information underpinning all business activities, there are more employment and career opportunities in accounting and finance than many other areas of study. This degree will prepare students for a rewarding career in any sector of the economy. The graduates may work as a Financial Accountant, Forensic Accountant, Management Accountant, Auditor, Chief Financial Officer, Financial Advisor and Tax Specialist.
Programme Objective
The BS (Accounting & Finance) program is aimed at giving students a solid foundation in accounting and finance, rounded out with the all-important interpersonal, computer, and business communication skills critical for success in today’s business environment. The degree will give students an understanding of the legal and regulatory environment that commercial organisations and accounting professionals must work within. They will be able to identify and evaluate ethical dilemmas and provide logical ways to resolve them. They will learn the concepts and processes needed to protect, validate and attest to the integrity and reliability of financial information. By studying financial institutions, markets, and business finance, students will learn about the components of the financial system and how it impacts upon financial decisions in an organisation. Students will study the financial system, institutions, and financial instruments, which are involved with the transfer of funds between individuals, businesses and governments. This includes critical short-run decisions, such as cash management and credit policy, which affect the survival of the organisation. Long-term decisions include investment in plant and equipment, fundraising, and mergers and takeovers, all of which determine the wealth of the owners.
Degree Requirements
The BS (Accounting & Finance) is a four-year degree program and consists of 130-136 credit hours of study. A compulsory requirement for students will be to either go through an eight week internship program followed by an internship report or submit a research dissertation at the end of the degree program. The weight age of the internship report/research dissertation shall be equal to 6 credit hours. The normal duration for completion of BS( A&F) degree is 8 semesters over a period of 4 years. The maximum duration for obtaining BS (A&F) degree shall be 7 years.
Entry Requirements
Students with FA/FSc or equivalent qualification ndand having at least 2 division, securing 45% marks in aggregate will be eligible to apply. Qualifying the IMSciences admission test and interview will be compulsory. Candidates scoring less than 40% marks, each in the test and interview, shall stand disqualified for admission. Candidates who have secured at least 40% marks in the NAT test are also eligible.

Accounting Specialization
In case of specialization in Accounting, students will have to study 15 courses of Accounting (7 core and 8 elective) along with 11 courses of Finance (6 core and 4 elective). There will be no change in institute core courses and non-specialized mandatory courses.
Finance Specialization
In case of specialization in Finance, students will have to study 16 courses of Finance (6 core and 10 elective) along with 9 courses of accounting (7 core and 2 elective). There will be no change in institute core courses and non-specialized mandatory courses.

The Program Coordinator can offer courses from the variety of electives in an area of specialization depending upon the availability of faculty and changing market trends. The list of elective courses is not exhaustive and new courses can be added once approved from the Academic Committee of the Institute.
ACCA Accreditation: The BS (Accounting and Finance) is an ACCA accredited program. The graduating students are offered nine papers (F1-F9) exemption out of the 14 papers of ACCA.
