I have a few queries. Can anyone shed some light on these matters?
When you write a paper, is it required to include the name of your supervisor? What if he/she hasn’t worked on it with you?
Secondly, if you do write the name of your supervisor, whose name goes first? Your’s or the sup’s?

Well there is no decisive answer frommy side. First of all a supervisor gives you a starting point. Then he guides you from time to time. Thus your first research struggle credits more to the supervisor then you. Secondly the supervisor is supposedly well known in the research community thus you use his name to get in rather more easily. His name is eye ctching for people in addition to your title of research. I hope your supervisor fits in this definition!
I cannot answer your second question but it will be fair to give you both the same weightage.
Lol, my current supervisor doesn’t even know what I’m working with. He did, to give him credit, teach me how to read and write papers but the actual research work, I’ve done myself. So, that’s why I wanted to know this. I’m starting another paper and this time, I’m inclined to not include my sup’s name because this time, he doesn’t even know I’m working on a paper. I asked him about presentations and he said “baqi logon k proposals ho jayain, phir dekhain gai”. and the baqi people are not interested in submitting their proposals. Precious free time is going a-wastin`.
I think if you have paid your respects in your first paper then in such circumstances you can forget your supervisor this time!
